Since this year, AWI has become a member of the Eurogroup for Animals organization and
has engaged in promoting animal welfare not only in Lithuania but also on an international
level. Together with more than 90 international organizations, AWI will contribute to shaping
EU animal welfare policies and addressing various issues, such as ensuring the welfare of
dogs and cats, shaping legislation guaranteeing animal welfare, as well as addressing
significant issues like animal trade, transportation, and others. AWI has joined the Cats and
Dogs Working Group, as well as the Animal Law Member Group, and will actively
contribute to the goals of the Eurogroup for Animals.
The team of Eurogroup for Animals, with 44 years of experience, aims to ensure that respect
for animals and their understanding as sentient beings are promoted in Europe. In
implementing this vision, the organization seeks to establish EU-wide legislation related to
animal welfare, guaranteeing necessary standards and thereby changing the public perception
of animals. AWI team is delighted to have received an invitation to contribute to the
meaningful goals of the Eurogroup for Animals team!
