The goal of PI “Gyvunu geroves iniciatyvos” (the GGI) is to solve the causes of animal welfare problems by preventing the occurrence of consequences.
Activities of the organization:
- Educational projects (lt, Draugiski Gyvunams);
- Preparation and dissemination of information on animal welfare issues;
- Participation in the deliberations of animal welfare legislation and contributing to its preparation;
- Examination and publicity of cases of neglect of animals (Report).
HISTORY
Since 2009, the Manager of the organization Beatrice Vaitiekunaite has been volunteering in various shelters, rescuing animals in extra situations and participating in educational projects aimed at increasing animal welfare in Lithuania. Volunteering has become obvious – despite the constant creation of new shelters, the growing public interest, the growing number of volunteers and the increase in the number of sheltered animals – there is no shortage of stray animals, and repeated cases of cruelty show that the level of awareness is still low. Because of these reasons in 2012, Beatrice and her comrades founded the PI “Gyvunu geroves iniciatyvos”, the purpose of which is to solve the causes of animal welfare problems by preventing the emergence of consequences and the awareness and compassion of people towards animals.
