PI “Gyvunu geroves iniciatyvos” is a non-governmental organization that seeks to ensure the protection of the public interest and representation in the field of animal welfare and protection.

Our aim is to contribute by legal means to the application and enforcement of animal welfare and protection standards. We cooperate with state institutions implementing animal welfare and protection requirements – local municipalities, the police and the State Food and Veterinary Service. In order to ensure animal welfare and protection standards, we, as a non-governmental organization, appeal to these competent authorities for animal welfare violations. Through our activities, we aim to ensure that every case involving animal neglect, violations of housing rules or cruelty to animals is investigated in a transparent and appropriate manner and the decision taken would meet animal welfare and protection standards.

If you notice violations of animal welfare, you have information about animal multipliers, you can contact the competent authorities responsible for animal welfare directly:

State Food and Veterinary Service (phone: 1479 or by mail: skundai@vmvt.lt):

* for violations of animal welfare requirements;

* for the reproduction activity of animals.

Lithuanian Police (in case of emergency, by common emergency number 112 or www.epolicija.lt):

* for cruelty or torture of animals.

The public order department of the city or district municipality:

* for violations of the rules for keeping animals;

* for unattended (loose) animals.

Enterprises or organizations subordinate to a city or district municipality with which the municipality has concluded an agreement on the care of stray animals:

* for stray animals;

* finding an injured animal.

Department of Environmental Protection (in case of emergency, by general emergency number 112 or by e-mail: info@aad.aa.lt):

* for cruelty to or torture of wild animals;

* if you notice violations of environmental protection.

In certain cases, report the information to the general emergency number 112, and the specialists working there will transmit it to the relevant appropriate services:

* hit a wild or domestic animal on the road;

* you have noticed an animal stuck in a tree, window or other cavity that has fallen into distress;

* you noticed a wild animal in the city, posing a threat to others or to yourself (i. e. the animal is roaming on the street, you suspect it with rabies, etc.);

* finding an injured wild animal or bird.

If a wounded wild animal or bird is found, one can also turn to the Association of Animal Guardians (see https://bit.ly/Radau-Laukinį-Gyvūną, https://bit.ly/Radau-Laukinį-Paukštį).

If you receive a response that the responsible authority will not investigate neglect, cruelty to the animal, or do not agree with the answer received – let us know, if there are grounds for appealing the decision provided in the procedure established by law.   • Your name/surname;
  • Phone number;
  • The data of the person whose behavior you are reporting;
  • A description of the event and the most accurate location of the action;
  • Date of event;
  • Witnesses and their contacts;
  • Photos or videos of the event, because most of the time we cannot do anything without visual material, so please attach it.

Upon receipt of the data provided by you, we will take all necessary measures to ensure that cases of animal welfare violations are properly and transparently investigated.

Let us know if you receive a response that the responsible authority will not investigate neglect, a cruel case with an animal, or you do not agree with the answer received, we will, if there are grounds, appeal the decision in the procedure established by law.
